Provides (1) pseudo random generators - general linear congruential generators, multiple recursive generators and generalized feedback shift register (SF-Mersenne Twister algorithm and WELL generators); (2) quasi random generators - the Torus algorithm, the Sobol sequence, the Halton sequence (including the Van der Corput sequence) and (3) some generator tests - the gap test, the serial test, the poker test. This started out as a package for file and string manipulation. Since then, the 'fs' and 'strex' packages emerged, offering functionality previously given by this package (but it's done better in these new ones). Those packages have hence almost pushed 'filesstrings' into extinction. However, it still has a small number of unique, handy file manipulation functions which can be seen in the vignette. One example is a function to remove spaces from all file names in a directory.

An R Client for the Europe PubMed Central RESTful Web Service (see <https://europepmc.org/RestfulWebService> for more information). It gives access to both metadata on life science literature and open access full texts. Europe PMC indexes all PubMed content and other literature sources including Agricola, a bibliographic database of citations to the agricultural literature, or Biological Patents. In addition to bibliographic metadata, the client allows users to fetch citations and reference lists. Links between life-science literature and other EBI databases, including ENA, PDB or ChEMBL are also accessible. No registration or API key is required. See the vignettes for usage examples.
